When Charlie McCrudden Talks ... Contractors Listen

After several days of deal making and arm twisting, the House Democratic Leadership is expected to bring a massive climate change bill to the floor for a vote tomorrow. The vote is expected to be very close so every message counts.

HR 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, would impose a "cap and trade" regime on greenhouse gas emissions starting in 2012. This 1000+ page bill will have a dramatic impact on the US economy at a time when our economic recovery is struggling to take hold .

Aside from the cap and trade proposal, HR 2454 also targets the HVACR industry specifically by:   imposing new regulatory requirements on HVACR equipment forcing the advancement of residential and commercial building codes without consensus phasing out the production and consumption of HFC refrigerants by 2036 causing an increase in the price of gasoline and diesel fuels. Cap and trade.

We ask that you urge your Congressman to vote NO on HR 2454.

You can use ACCA's Government Relations Grassroots Action Center to send a message to your Representative today.

Thank you for helping ACCA fight for the contracting industry. If you have any questions, please contact  charlie.mccrudden@acca.org.

Did you miss the last meeting on BIM by Bruce Dilg held on April 21, 2009? It was a great presentation done via PowerPoint.  Are you living in the future or the past? Take a look at what BIM could do for your contracting company.  (sorry, the file is still too large to upload please visit again, we will keep trying).

The bill that passed in the Ways and Means Committee would remove the lifetime cap and allow homeowners to claim up to $1500 in credits for the tax years 2009 and 2010. Also, the per appliance limits are removed, meaning that a homeowner could claim all $1500 for a new high efficiency furnace, or all $1500 for a new high efficiency air conditioner or heat pump.
